Sybase Readies PowerBuilder 9.0 For March Ship Date

PowerBuilder 9.0, which Sybase said lays the groundwork for "4GLPlus" -- the next-generation of its RAD environment -- offers a slew of new features and supports a wide range of development technologies.

Among its enhancements are wizards that let developers create and deploy JavaServer Page (JSP) Targets, support for BEA's WebLogic Server, and tools that allow developers to build Web services for Microsoft .Net without requiring a deep background in SOAP or WSDL.

The development package will be available in three editions -- desktop, professional, and enterprise -- and upgrades to current PowerBuilder licensees will cost $1,500.
