Muir, who headed up marketing services before leading the software group, has been with Tech Data for 12 years and is resigning to take another position with a vendor, according Muir. She declined to name the vendor.

"My last 12 years have been incredibly rewarding. I've had positons in operations, sales, services, product marketing. I've had incredible exposure to a lot of great things. The hardest thing leaving a company after 12 years is leaving the people," Muir said. She will remain with Tech Data until Aug. 9 and expects to start a new position at the end of August.

On an interim basis, the software division will be managed by Cecilia Lessard, director of software product marketing, O'Malley said. Tech Data will conduct a search externally and internally to replace Muir, a process that could take up to 90 days, said Bob O'Malley, senior vice president of U.S. marketing at Tech Data.

"Tamra has been a very important part of the Tech Data team. She was involved in a number of groundbreaking assignments here. We expect to see Tamra in the industry and look forward to working with her in the future in some capacity," he said.
