Business Objects Ships Data Quality Suite

Data Quality XI, which stems from Business Objects's acquisition this year of Firstlogic Inc., is a suite of tools that are part of the company's strategy of providing trustworthy data for business intelligence and performance management activities.

Features within Data Quality included a centralized repository for creating and storing business rules that can be applied across a company. The product, for example, can be used to consolidate multiple sales databases.

Other features include integration with third-party business applications from SAP AG, Oracle and Informatica; and locale specific parsing for Arabic, French, Spanish and Portuguese data, as well as global matching capabilities for China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and other non-Latin scripts.

The new product also has reporting capabilities and an easy-to-use match wizard for managing the entire data quality process, officials with the San Jose, Calif.-based, business intelligence company said.

Data Quality XI is scheduled to ship in the third quarter.
