CompactFlash Data Transfer Rate Is Doubled
"The development of the CompactFlash 133MB/sec interface means that the CompactFlash interface will not restrict the sustained data transfer rate of CompactFlash cards in the near future," said CFA chairman Shigeto Kanda, according to a press release. "Data write performance of digital SLR cameras as well as other high performance cameras will not be limited by the flash card interface."
The new CF+ and CompactFlash Specification Revision 4.0 maintains backward compatibility with old host systems.
The CFA said CompactFlash card slots have been built into more than 325 digital camera models and more than 150 handheld/palm size PCs as well as into more than 410 additional electronic platforms ranging from printers and MP3 players to heart monitors and embedded computers.
