Miller Moves Up Ladder At Tech

Already one of the channel's most influential women, Tech Data's Barb Miller continues her industry ascension, being named vice president of Tech Data's government, technical and integration services.

The move from director to vice president keeps Miller in charge of Tech Data's public-sector TechEDG program. She will also lead teams of technical and government-services experts, as well as oversee the TDEducation reseller-training and certification programs, TDOnCall technical services suite, product integration and configuration support, and TeleSMART telemarketing services for resellers.

Under Miller's leadership, Tech Data grew its government and education business 11 percent last year. Close to 3,000 solution providers participate in the TechEDG program, with nearly 45 percent focusing on education, 29 percent on federal and 26 percent on state and local government. The company's annual conference devoted to the segment drew more than 200 attendees in April.

As for her plans in the executive role, Miller says she intends to continue with the initiatives that have served her, Tech Data and its partners so well to date.

"I plan to continue building on our extensive services offerings, better enabling resellers to deliver professional IT services that add value to their solutions and help differentiate themselves in the marketplace," Miller says. "Tech Data is dedicated to providing resellers with the services they can leverage to build margins, generate recurring revenue and grow their business."
