Microsoft's MSDN Wiki Goes Live
Microsoft first announced its wiki intentions in June, as part of Microsoft developer division head S. "Soma" Somasegar's broad push for as much interactivity as possible throughout Microsoft's development process. The "Community Content" feature, as Microsoft has dubbed its wiki environment, encourages developers to add tips, notes, code examples, and other information alongside Microsoft's official documentation.
Today's release covers Microsoft's MSDN documentation on Visual Studio 2005 documentation and the .NET 3.0 Class Library. While the current MSDN Wiki only covers English-language content, the company plans to extend the tools to its French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese content in February 2007.
MSDN Wiki is one of several moves Microsoft has made this year to build community momentum around its software. In May it opened CodePlex, a shared-source site that hosts an assortment of Microsoft-created and third-party projects.
