ScanSource To Nearly Double Capacity With New Distribution Center
The Greenville, S.C.-based specialty distributor is moving operations from its 366,000-square-foot facility in Memphis, Tenn., to a 600,000-square-foot center in Southaven, Miss., with the option to add another 147,000 square feet.
"Primarily, [the move] will allow us to plan for future growth. We're planning for continued growth in the company, and this should allow us to look several years down the road and plan for that growth," said Bobby McLain, vice president of marketing at ScanSource.
The new facility also will enable ScanSource to add services and integration capabilities, according to McLain. "We're definitely planning to pick up some extra space for integration. That is a critical part of our partner services offering," he said.
"We're looking at continuing to be that turnkey partner behind the scenes to allow them to really focus on selling the product and creating those relationships and letting us do as much of the behind-the-scenes work as possible," he added.
McLain said he does not expect the move to have any impact on shipping and delivery times.
ScanSource has signed a 10-year lease with Industrial Developments International, and the new facility is expected to be up and running early next year.
