Dell Introduces Storage Assessment Services

The Dell Storage Simplification Assessments portfolio includes server virtualization assessments, backup restore and archive assessments, and data management and storage technology assessments, according to the company.

"For many customers, storage infrastructure has become unnecessarily difficult to manage," said Paul Kaeley, storage consulting practice leader at Dell, in a statement. "Dell's new Storage Simplification assessments identify the core issues driving complexity and provide a path to simplifying customers' storage and backup environments."

In a release, Dell did not say who would perform the assessments or how solution providers might play, other than to say they would be offered to Dell Registered Partners "looking to enhance storage consulting, deployment and integration capabilities."

Dell also claims it can complete the assessments "in days, instead of weeks" by leveraging "non-disruptive tools and processes." The assessments provide a "technical and operational inventory of customers' environments and help them more rapidly decide which solutions will best meet their needs," according to the release.
