Simons Heads Up Toshiba America Info Systems
Simons replaces Masa Fukakushi, who is now chairman and CEO of Toshiba America.
In his role as president and CEO, Simons is responsible for the four units of the Toshiba America Information Systems (TAIS) group: digital products, imaging systems, storage and telecommunication systems.
"Toshiba is one of the world's great companies, with a proud history of innovation, outstanding talent and enviable positions in many of its product lines," Simons said in a statement. "It's a tremendous honor for me to step into my new role as TAIS president. I'm confident that with the company's leading technologies and attractive markets, coupled with the TAIS management team's focus on execution, that we will be able to continue the momentum Masa Fukakushi started."
Simons, a 15-year TAIS veteran, was most recently vice president and general manager of the digital products division of the company where he helped build Toshiba's notebook computer business.
Jeff Barney, who has been with TAIS for more than 19 years, will assume the role of vice president and general manager of the digital products division.
"As the recognized leader of innovation, we look beyond features and specifications to find the human benefit of our solutions," Barney said in a statement. "We want customers to connect with our products and trust that they will become a meaningful resource in their lives."
