Comptia CEO 'Responds' To CRN Investigation In E-Mail To Members

series of CRN articles

In a Wednesday e-mail to members, viewed by CRN, Comptia CEO Todd Thibodeaux wrote: "I'd like to take this opportunity to address the series of articles which have appeared in CRN Magazine (online and print) discussing issues from CompTIA's past."

Thibodeaux said in the e-mail to members that the association has nothing but its members interest in mind.

"The programs we facilitate and lead are driven by the members, for the industry," Thibodeaux wrote. "We have no other ulterior motive."

In another point, Thibodeaux states that Comptia is a foundation and in the "enviable position as a vendor-neutral organization to identify similarities among companies and to create standards and best practices."

Comptia is also flexible, Thibodeaux wrote. "If we hear a good idea which may benefit the whole, we will pursue it and lead the charge in lock step with our members."

The association is also the "town square for the industry," Thibodeaux continued in the e-mail. "We bring people together to overcome challenges and identify opportunities now and down the road."

Despite the praise, Thibodeaux's e-mail didn't actually address the issues raised in the series of CRN articles.

CRN's April cover story and several additional articles here on Channelweb investigated a $1 million bonus the IT association's former CEO received for adding new members. In the articles, numerous current and former board members expressed concern about the bonus and Comptia's strategy.
