CompTIA Cancels Managed IT Services Summit

Those fires, coupled with the economic downturn and the desire to offer more one-day events, led CompTIA and its partner for the summit, MSP Partners, to cancel the plans. CompTIA's most recent event, its Breakaway conference, was held just a month ago in Las Vegas. Evidently, the organizers believed a managed services event following so quickly afterward would not draw adequate attendance.

"Coming off the energy and excitement of Breakaway and its strong focus on managed services, the feedback we received was to direct our energy in two areas over the coming months. First, focus on attending and supporting the tremendous slate of IT channel events that are scheduled through the rest of the year," said Steven Ostrowski, director of CompTIA corporate communications at CompTIA. "Second, increase our regional outreach ... providing one-day, affordable local events for MSPs around the U.S."

CompTIA plans to add an event in the Los Angeles area to augment the current lineup of Chicago (Oct. 14), New York (Nov. 11) and Washington, D.C. (Dec. 9).
