All Covered Acquires Alteritech From Acumen Solutions

Alteritech, based in Vienna, Va., was formed in 2004 when Acumen Solutions spun off its managed services division as a separate subsidiary. In addition to its core managed services, Alteritech also provides IT infrastructure consulting and hosting/cloud computing solutions and focuses on verticals such as real estate, legal and other industries in both the Washington, D.C. and New York regions.

"We had always planned to grow the Alteritech business and then eventually spin it off," said Acumen President and CEO David Joubran in a press statement. "In our opinion the market conditions for selling this type of firm were particularly favorable now, so this was a good time. We felt All Covered had a strong track record of client satisfaction and offered a cultural fit for the Alteritech employees."

The Alteritech deal marks the 16th acquisition All Covered has made in the last 18 months. In an effort to expand its SMB-focused services reach nationally and bring in new small business clients, All Covered embarked recently on an aggressive acquisition strategy. The Redwood City, Calif.-based company plans on making as many as 50 acquisitions over the next three years, according to All Covered CEO Todd Croteau.

All Covered has significantly expanded its presence in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area this year through acquisitions. The company purchased Analysys in July and MainBrain in February, and with the addition of Alteritech, All Covered now has more than 50 staff members in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area with more than 200 local managed services contracts.

"We are excited to add to Alteritech's strong cloud computing platform, the capability and support of a strong, nationwide firm with access to the industry's most advanced tools and comprehensive," Croteau said in a statement. "I'm very excited to have Alteritech and its great people join the All Covered team."
