Kavado Enhances Application Security Suite

Kavado's ScanDo version 2.5 Web application scanner and InterDo version 3.5 Web application firewall can provide the tools to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information used by Web applications, said Jon Greene, vice president of marketing at Kavado, N.Y.

The company hopes the product will appeal to resellers catering to both ISVs and solution providers, Greene added.

For example, Web application developers can use ScanDo to detect security vulnerabilities in Web applications during the development cycle, vulnerabilities that could lead to data such as credit-card or Social Security Numbers being hacked.

Likewise, resellers focused on network operation security can choose the InterDo Web application firewall to deploy policy-based access security to Web applications using guarded data. And security solution providers can choose both software products for end-to-end Web application vulnerability assessment and firewall protection, said Greene.

The upgraded versions of ScanDo and InterDo are more tightly integrated with one another, making it easier for updated application vulnerability assessments performed by ScanDo to feed into the InterDo firewall in the form of security policy, said Greene.

James Jenkins, vice president of business development at Prosoft Consulting, a Kavado partner in London, Ontario, attests to the way Kavado's application scanning and firewall products offer multiple inroads to the market. "We sell both [ScanDo and InterDo], and we've even developed an application scanning service around ScanDo," he said.

Pricing starts at $11,000 for ScanDo and $15,000 for InterDo, according to Kavado.
