Apple Recalls Batteries In G4 Laptops

Apple, in a joint release with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, said it had received four reports of batteries overheating. No injuries were reported.

Consumers were advised to stop using the PowerBooks immediately, and contact Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., for a replacement battery. Apple can be reached through a toll free number, 800-275-2273, or through its web site.

Made by LG Chem Ltd. in South Korea, the batteries are used with the 15-inch PowerBook G4 aluminum laptop. The batteries have the model number A1045 and serial numbers beginning with HQ404, HQ405, HQ406, HQ407 or HQ408.
