Acquisition Expands Net@Work's Nonprofit Practice

Solution provider Net@Work is expanding its already sizeable business working with nonprofit organizations by acquiring the nonprofit practice of ADSS Global for an undisclosed sum.

Combined with two acquisitions Net@Work made last year, the New York-based solution provider's nonprofit practice is now its third largest as relates to annual maintenance revenue, said Alex Solomon, Net@Work founder and co-president.

"Our objective with the nonprofit practice is to be the No. 1 Abila nonprofit business in the country," Solomon said, referring to the application set the practice is built around. "The nonprofit business has become a huge part of what we do at Net@Work."

Abila is a set of accounting, fundraising, grant management and other applications that are popular with nonprofit organizations. Originally owned by Sage Software and marketed as Sage Nonprofit Solutions, the vendor sold the product line to a private equity firm in July 2013 and it was rebranded Abila. The company is now based in Austin, Texas.

ADSS Global, like Net@Work, is a leading Sage Software reseller and Abila channel partner.

Net@Work launched its nonprofit practice in April 2013 when it acquired Huckstep & Associates, a leading solution provider in that market that also worked with the then-Sage applications. Principal Jeannie Huckstep is now the director of Net@Work's nonprofit practice.

In September, Net@Work expanded that business by acquiring the Abila nonprofit practice run by Blytheco, another major Sage Software partner.

Solomon said the deal also brings a number of ADSS Global partner affiliates into the Net@Work fold, which he said would help the company expand its geographical coverage. Those affiliates are being added to Net@Work's own affiliate program that's managed by Tom Miller, the former Sage Software channel chief Net@Work hired in July 2013.

Solomon said ADSS has been working to help migrate its Abila customers over to Net@Work.

Net@Work is No. 406 on the CRN 2014 Solution Provider 500.
