Insight Enterprises Buys Australian Microsoft Consultancy To Bolster Digital, App Design Capabilities

Insight Enterprises has purchased Microsoft's 2014 Australian Enterprise Partner of the Year to strengthen its digital transformation capabilities around cloud, mobility and business analytics.

The Tempe, Ariz.-based company, No. 15 on the 2016 CRN Solution Provider 500, said its acquisition of Perth, Australia-based Ignia will strengthen Insight's consulting services for customers in the utilities, health-care, education and government verticals.

"The addition of Ignia to our business expands our global footprint in the areas of application design, digital solutions, cloud, mobility and business analytics," Ken Lamneck, Insight's president and CEO, said in a statement. "The investments we have made over the last year in application development and consulting capabilities enable us to offer more powerful and diverse solutions to our clients."

Ignia was founded in 2000 and employs between 51 and 200 in its Perth and Melbourne offices, according to LinkedIn. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Insight and Ignia weren't immediately available for additional comment.

"Ignia is at the forefront of the digital revolution," Phil Rickson, Ignia's CEO, said in a statement. "Joining Insight will accelerate our growth and allow us to take our services and solutions to the Asia-Pacific and global markets."

In addition to be named Microsoft's 2014 Enterprise Partner of the Year in Australia, Ignia was recognized by Microsoft in 2015 for industry and platform innovation as well as excellence for mobility and devices.

The company leverages a wide variety of Microsoft technologies, including SharePoint, Office 365, Dynamics CRM, SQL Server, Azure and Windows 8 Apps. Ignia was also selected last year as one of Microsoft's nine inaugural Australian Internet of Things partners thanks to its expertise in advanced analytics and data science.

Ignia was the 22nd fastest-growing company in the Australian IT channel in both 2014 and 2015, according to CRN Australia.

"Ignia's award-winning work drives enterprise agility and platform innovation, enabling clients to transform the way they gain competitive advantage and collaborate with their customers in an increasingly digital world," Andrea Della Mattea, senior vice president and managing director of Insight Asia-Pacific, said in a statement.

Ignia provides services including content and collaboration, enterprise workflow, business intelligence, mobility, business applications and agile application life-cycle management.

In addition to Microsoft, Ignia is an HP Silver Partner, and has experiencing integrating software company K2's business process management software with Microsoft SharePoint.

Ignia also works closely with Sitecore around customer experience software, AvePoint around Microsoft SharePoint governance and infrastructure management, and RecordPoint around document and records management for SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365.

The Ignia deal comes 11 months after Insight bought interactive design and technology company BlueMetal of Boston to strengthen its ability to design business applications.
