Channel Madness Round 3 Results: Rooney, McCray Advance To Field Of Four After Close Matchups

The polls for the quarterfinal round of voting in the CRN Channel Madness Tournament of Chiefs are closed, the votes are tallied, and the Enterprise Eight are about to learn their fate.

With titles up for grabs in the Infrastructure, Hardware, Cloud and Security regions, let's look at how it all shook out.

In a tight shoot-out that came down to the buzzer for the Security region title, McAfee's Ken McCray powered past Symantec's Keith Weatherford, winning 52 percent to 48 percent in what turned out to be the most heavily voted matchup of Round 3.

Another close matchup unfolded in the Cloud region, where Veeam's Kevin Rooney found the right game plan to oust Intermedia's Eric Martorano 53 percent to 47 percent.

In the Infrastructure region, NetApp's Jeff McCullough built up an early lead and held on to it for a victory over Shannon Sbar of APC by Schneider Electric, winning 66 percent to 34 percent.

And the Hardware title goes to Dell EMC's Joyce Mullen, who came out strong against Intel's Todd Garrigues and never looked back, winning 66 percent to 34 percent.

So in the Field of Four, NetApp's McCullough will meet Dell EMC's Mullen, while Veeam's Rooney will take on McAfee's McCray.
