Ingram Micro CFO to Retire, Teaching at UC Irvine
Madden has accepted a teaching position at the University of California Irvine's Graduate School of Management. "I have been interested in teaching at a university level for quite some time. UC Irvine offers me the opportunity to pursue an area of significant interest, spend more time with my family and give back some of the knowledge and experience that has benefited me over the past 30 years," Madden said in a statement.
William Humes, corporate vice president and corporate controller, will replace Madden as CFO.
"Tom has been an exemplary CFO, and I'm sure he will make outstanding contributions to the UC Irvine Graduate School of Management and its students," said Kent Foster, chairman and CEO of Santa Ana, Calif.-based Ingram Micro, in a statement. "During his more than three years at the company, Tom built a best-in-class finance team. Bill has played a critical role on that team and has been involved in finance operations for many years. Although Tom will be missed, we are fortunate to have a professional as strong as Bill to succeed him."
Humes will oversee the $22 billion distributor's finance functions worldwide, including financial planning and analysis, controllership, internal audit, tax and treasury. He joined Ingram Micro in 1998 as senior director of worldwide financial planning, reporting and accounting and became corporate vice president and controller in 2002.
Humes previously was a certified public accountant for nine years at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Madden is the fifth senior-level executive to leave Ingram Micro in the past six months. He follows Mike Grainger, who resigned as president and COO; Pat Collins, who resigned as senior group vice president of sales and marketing; Donna Grothjan, who resigned as senior vice president of product management; and Joe Gruca, who resigned as area vice president of VAR sales for the South and West regions.
Earlier this week, Grainger joined the board of directors at ScanSource, a Greenville, S.C.-based distributor.
