Insight Names Former IBM Exec As President, CEO

Fennessy is a 17-year veteran of IBM and most recently led the IBM.com organization, which includes IBM direct telesales and Web channel operations in more than 80 countries. He also has served as vice president of worldwide marketing for IBM's Personal Computer Division and general manager of the vendor's worldwide PC Direct organization.

"Fennessy brings a wealth of experience within the IT industry and proven leadership and team-building strengths that will lead Insight Enterprises into its next stage of growth," Tim Crown, current Insight CEO and founder, said in a statement. "His passion for the business and strong drive for success make him a perfect fit in our dynamic company culture."

Crown said in April that he would relinquish the CEO title. He will become chairman of the $3 billion, Tempe, Ariz.-based direct solution provider, while current Chairman Eric Crown will become chairman emeritus.

"We have elected to keep the chairman and chief executive officer positions separate, which reflects both our desire to maintain a proactive position in the area of corporate governance and a growing trend throughout the country," Tim Crown said in a statement.
