3 Habits Of Highly Successful CEOs

Leading a company is hard work, and it takes the right sort of personality. CRN asked a number of solution providers what qualities are crucial to a successful CEO, and here is what they recommended:

1. Listen: Solution providers could not stress enough the importance of hearing out employees and clients. Jay Mellon, CEO of AtNetPlus, said a great leader is ’somebody who knows how to listen. Without a doubt, there’s a lot of wisdom out there, and you have to be able to take in whatever people have to say and apply it.’

Michael Chapman of Corus 360 agreed, as he said the most important habit to form is ’Listening to the customers, understanding market direction, understanding people, [and] having confidence in their people.’

2. Be risky: Chapman also said it's important to continue to take ’risks and sense innovation.’

New Signature’s David Geevaratne said taking feedback will lead to innovation. ’As soon as you close yourself off from feedback and change, you’re never going to be innovating,’ he said.

3. Be focused: ’There’s no question that focus is important,’ said SacTech President George Usi. ’If you have focus, if your partner has focus and you have focus on what you know is your long-term strategy within that partnership, then you have good leadership qualities.’
