Citrix will spin off its popular GoTo line of products, which includes the collaboration platform GoToMeeting. The announcement came this week after months of rumors.

With the split, Citrix will eliminate 1,000 positions, which accounts for about one-tenth of its workforce. The SaaS product line accounted for $600 million in sales over the past year, and will trade publicly as an independent company. Financial information around the spinoff will be revealed in a future filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Symantec lost a top channel exec this week, its second departure from its channel team in less than a month.

Dell and EMC have launched a new office with the sole mission of bringing the two companies together. The Value Creation and Integration Office will formalize the integration planning and coordinate teams following Dell's blockbuster acquisition of EMC.

Areas of focus will include go-to-market strategy, products, HR, finance, legal, and sales, among several others. The deal could close between May and October of next year, and integration should be complete within six to nine months afterward, according to Dell and EMC.
