Channel Beat: DXC Buys Tribridge, Symantec Acquires Fireglass And Cisco's Channel Chief Discusses The Intuitive Network

In this week's Channel Beat, DXC Technology buys Tribridge, Symantec plans to acquire threat isolation startup Fireglass, and Cisco executive Wendy Bahr talks to CRN about the company's new Intuitive Network and why it's a 'market disruptor.'

DXC Technology madeits first acquisition on Wednesday, buying Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution provider Tribridge and its managed cloud business Concerto Cloud Services.

Tribridge offers enterprise customers software services and cloud solutions around finance, operations, customer engagement and human capital management.

Tribridge employs 740 people and is a six-time Dynamics 365 Worldwide and U.S. Partner of the Year winner.

Symantec said on Thursdayit plans to acquire threat isolation startup Fireglass.

Symantec CEO Greg Clark said in a statement that the acquisition breaks Symantec into the market for threat isolation in a big way – and it boosts Symantec's existing endpoint, email and secure web gateway solutions.

The acquisition also builds on Symantec's security platform story – called the Integrated Cyber Defense Platform -- which looks to build a full set of integrated security offerings for customers and partners.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CRNspoke with Cisco channel chief Wendy Bahrrecently to get the inside scoop on Cisco's new Intuitive Network, which Bahr called a market disruptor.

Cisco's Intuitive Network includes new Catalyst switches, new software and services, machine learning and an encrypted traffic analytics platform.

This will become part of Cisco's popular VIP partner program, giving the channel a more software-centric approach to networking.

Bahr also encouraged partners to take advantage of Cisco's partnership with Apple.

She said Cisco partners have a massive opportunity to add more value to their customers who use Apple products.

Microsoft could be laying offas many as 3,000 peopleas it restructures its sales and marketing teams, according to a recent report on CNBC. In a statement to CRN this week, Microsoft said the company is "implementing changes to better serve our customers and partners."

Among themajor changes, Microsoft's sales groups will be divided into two categories -- enterprise and small/medium/corporate. The sales teams also will be organized by industry focus and by product category.
