WATCH: Solution Providers Talk Cyber Security, 5G At XChange 2019

Hundreds of solution providers are gathering in Las Vegas this week for The Channel Company’s XChange event. Here’s what you missed:

Cyber security:

Solution providers and vendors agree: 2019 is the year of security.

“Fraud is real, and customers continue to be hit with this,” said Dan Johnson, president at MachineLogic, a managed service provider based in Denver. During a panel discussion, Johnson said phishing attacks continue to be among the top threats to his customers, and others agreed.

“Spam filters are good, but they are still being tripped quite often. To fight that we introduced new products to train users,” said Brian Ruschman, president of CForward IT, a Kentucky-based MSP specializing in cloud and networking.

5G

Sprint discussed its plans to unveil a 5G network this spring and shared details on the role of the channel.

“Think about smart cities. You’re going to need to an experienced salesperson who has those relationships to sell that type of product,” said Ryan Yahrmatter, head of channel sales at Sprint Business.

Sprint is also offering purpose-built IoT solutions for the channel, including its Sprint IoT-in-a-box offering, an industry-specific monitoring solution that includes a gateway and sensors that can be applied in a variety of use cases, such as education and health care.
