Accenture CTO Jumps To Google Cloud To ‘Accelerate’ AI And Public Sector, CEO Says

Accenture’s chief technology officer, Karthik Narain, has joined cloud giant Google Cloud in a move to “accelerate” Google customers’ AI journey, CEO Thomas Kurian said.

“[Narain] will lead product and engineering teams across cloud, developer, data and applied AI, the go-to-market organization, and work closely with Google Public Sector,” said Google Cloud CEO Kurian in a statement.

Narain is now Google Cloud’s new chief product and business officer after a decade of helping lead Accenture’s technology vision and strategy.

“Karthik’s proven track record with clients, along with his unparalleled depth of experience in developing enterprise technology solutions will accelerate our customers’ journey into the AI era,” Kurian said.

Narain said the world is in “a generational moment of transition” driven by artificial intelligence innovation.

“To truly make an impact, enterprise products must be designed to meet customers exactly where they are—integrating seamlessly into their existing systems and operating landscapes,” Narain said in a statement.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Google Cloud is the world’s third-largest cloud provider, trailing only Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.

Google Cloud generated a record $13.6 billion in revenue during the second quarter of 2025, representing an increase of 32 percent year over year. Google Cloud is currently on a $54 billion annual run rate.

Who Is Google Cloud’s New Executive Hire?

Narain spent nearly 11 years at Accenture and was instrumental in overseeing its technology vision, strategy, and execution, while also previously leading Accenture's bold Cloud-First and Data & AI businesses.

He has held several top executive roles at Accenture, who ranks No. 1 on CRN’s 2025 Solution Provider 500 list, including group chief executive of technology, CTO and chairman of the board of Avanade.

Google Cloud said Narain’s deep expertise spans cloud, data, security and AI, to industry platforms and developer tools as well as infrastructure engineering.

As one of Accenture’s top leaders, Narain has led major cloud and AI-led modernization and transformation initiatives for some of the world’s largest companies across every major industry.

Prior to Accenture, Narain held executive roles at fellow channel partner powerhouse HCLTech from 2005 to 2015.

Before HCLTech, he worked as a financial services manager at Infosys.

Google is set to report its financial earnings results for the third quarter 2025 next week.
