Unisys Sees Fewer Data Centers, More Clouds In Government Market

In an interview with CRN TV at the recent XChange Public Sector 2012 event, Zapfel said the federal government has accelerated its cloud adoption this year. "It's a pretty big change," he said. "It's now moving up into the commercial clouds."

Zapfel also discussed how government agencies are continuing to consolidate their data centers, especially smaller ones, as data center services are moved to the cloud. "There will be fewer data centers going forward," Zapfel said. "Pretty much every month we're hearing about more of them getting shut down."

Zapfel also discussed federal IT budget pressure this year, as well as Unisys' strategic push toward mobile applications and app development.
