IndependenceIT Snaps Up Cloud Service Aggregator Veddio

With the purchase, independenceIT gains Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Veddio’s 150 partners and adds cloud management tools to its portfolio.

The services created by the partnership are aimed at helping managed services providers and channel partners overcome the complexity involved in migrating customers’ IT resources to the cloud.

As a result, business customers will be able to use an interface to choose applications and services on-demand.

The partnership combines Veddio’s customers, which are mostly small businesses, with independenceIT’s large and medium-sized customers, Seth Bostock, executive vice president of business development for independenceIT, said in an interview.

Veddio’s offerings include VoIP, online backup, Microsoft Exchange, hosting, SharePoint and remote applications available in cloud bundles or individually through the Veddio Cloud Dashboard (VCD).

“independenceIT is becoming an enabler in the cloud space, allowing customers to more easily enter the cloud,” Todd Myers, the CEO and founder of Veddio, who will become COO of independenceIT, said in an interview.

“Veddio’s strong channel program -- featuring over 150 partners -- aligns perfectly with our focus on the reseller market,” independenceIT CEO and Co-Founder Charles Buck said in a statement.

This year, independenceIT has entered into several partnerships to extend cloud services for solutions providers.

In March, independenceIT partnered with GreenPages, a cloud and virtualization consulting and integration firm.

The same month, independenceIT teamed with managed IT services and communications provider EarthLink, so that EarthLink will include independenceIT’s Total Freedom Workspace and Instance Freedom Workspace technologies, which allow enterprises to access business apps from any device.

IndependenceIT does not release financial figures. The amount of the purchase was not disclosed.
