Intronis was founded in 2003 and saw sales more than double under Plunkett, who joined the company as CEO in September 2010. Previously, Plunkett was CEO of Salary.com for 11 years.
The company's board of directors along with OpenView Venture Partners, a founding investor, have hired a search firm to evaluate internal and external candidates to succeed Plunkett on a permanent basis.
Until then, Bolgatz is at the helm. He joined Intronis in May 2010 after having served as vice president of engineering at Exit41 for five years.
The company does not expect to make any major shifts under Bolgatz and will continue to invest in product development and support solution providers, Bolgatz said in a statement.
In May, Intronis closed a $2.9 million internal round of funding that was earmarked to fuel further growth, according to the company.
