Deloitte Acquires Leading AWS Partner In New Zealand

Global systems integration and consulting giant Deloitte expanded its cloud chops in New Zealand Monday with an agreement to purchase one of that country's leading Amazon Web Services partners.

API Talent will be integrated into London-based Deloitte's cloud and technology practice after the deal closes on May 1. Financial details were not disclosed.

The New Zealand-based AWS Advanced Consulting Partner is recognized as a cloud-native application developer that specializes in DevOps-style practices. The firm is also certified by Amazon as an MSP partner.

The company's owners, Wyn Ackroyd and Sebastian Krueger, will become partners in the larger business.

With the acquisition of his company, Deloitte can accelerate cloud adoption "in Kiwi organizations," Ackroyd said.

Deloitte CEO Thomas Pippos, in a prepared statement, said New Zealand is a market offering a substantial growth opportunity for resellers of cloud services. The country's business community is in the early stages of building out cloud capabilities, with a "material wave of cloud adoption expected over the next three years consistent with global trends," he said.

Deloitte and API Talent have collaborated in the past on designing and implementing cloud-native applications hosted on the Amazon cloud, and implementing DevOps style application delivery and management.

The addition of API Talent means Deloitte is better positioned to help clients "AWS-enable their business," Pippos said.
