Veeam CMO Hutchison To Depart For 'External Opportunities'

Veeam Chief Marketing Officer Kate Hutchison is leaving her position after barely nine months on the job, the company has confirmed.

Hutchison "is moving on from her role as Veeam's chief marketing officer to pursue other external opportunities," Stuart Marks, a Veeam spokesman, said in an email statement to CRN. "During her tenure, Kate made a significant contribution to Veeam's success and we wish her all the best for her future endeavors."

The Baar, Switzerland-based data availability software firm is making an aggressive move into the enterprise with its 'hyper-availability' strategy. Hutchison spoke about that strategy during a panel discussion at Veeam's VeeamOn conference recently in Chicago.

"The vision and the strategy we're asserting is particularly appropriate for a C-level audience, but I think any VP, or director-level [executive] in IT is interested in learning how they can make the business outcomes much more effective through data management," Hutchison said. "We've been so very successful with the SMB and commercial markets and I think you're going to see us develop more of a depth-and-breadth story for the enterprise, but that's not leaving behind anybody. It's leading to the Fortune 500 companies and getting them to understand who we are and what we do. It's really a comprehensive message."

Hutchison is a 20-year tech industry veteran who has held CMO roles at IT heavyweights Riverbed, Polycom, VMware and Citrix. She joined Veeam last September with a particular focus on expanding the company's presence in the North America market.

In the CMO role, Hutchison oversaw a team of more than 300 at Veeam and had responsibility for product marketing, corporate marketing and global events. She took the job after former CMO Peter Ruchatz left the company to take the CMO role MeteoGroup.
