Google Cloud Hires SAP Vet For New Tech Solutions Role

Google Cloud has tapped a former SAP chief product officer for a senior executive role with its solutions engineering team.

The No. 3 cloud provider has hired Abdul Razack as vice president of technology solutions, a newly created position.

Razack is a technology leader known for his strategic vision and engineering expertise, with more than 25 years of experience in enterprise technology, according to Google Cloud.

Based out of Sunnyvale, Calif., Razack will be responsible for Google Cloud’s solution strategy across its seven solution pillars, from infrastructure, to application modernization, to data analytics and cloud artificial intelligence (AI). He also will drive the application of the solutions among sellers and customer engineers helping customers digitally transform.

“My goal is to help Google Cloud customers unlock significant value from our solutions, bringing resiliency and scale to businesses in these uncertain times, and also helping them build a technology foundation for their future,” Razack said in a statement. “I’m truly excited about the opportunity to leverage Google's technology to develop open, flexible solutions that serve our customers' most critical needs.”

Razack will report to Hamidou Dia, Google Cloud’s vice president and global head of solutions engineering, who reports to Robert Enslin, Google Cloud’s president of global customer operations.

“Abdul brings a wealth of engineering and innovation experience to the role,” Enslin said in a statement. “He will be instrumental in defining our cloud solutions and furthering our engineering capabilities as we work hand in hand with customers to help them solve their trickiest business challenges.”

A 15-year SAP veteran, Razack served as chief product officer at SAP since March 2019, leading its cloud technology vision and efforts to build enterprise resource planning products.

He previously led technology and architecture for SAP Cloud for just shy of 1.5 years and was head of platforms at Infosys, where he focused on big data and automation, and spearheaded its AI efforts. Prior to his Infosys stint, Razack had worked at SAP for another 12-plus years in roles including head of customer development and strategic projects and executive director to the head of technology and innovation. Razack also worked in engineering and consulting roles at Commerce One, Sybase and KPMG.
