Amazon Web Services’ cloud certification exams now will be offered through Pearson VUE’s 5,000 computer-based testing centers in 180 countries.

The deal will triple the number of testing locations for AWS customers and AWS Partner Network (APN) members, according to the cloud provider.

The Bloomington, Minn.-based Pearson VUE administers more than 15 million certification and licensure exams annually in industries such as information technology – including for Microsoft Azure, Dell EMC, IBM, Oracle and VMware – healthcare, and academia and admissions.

In a blog post today, Kevin Kelly, director of AWS certification and education programs, pointed to Metrics That Matter research that showed 60 percent of APN members said their customers ask if they are AWS-certified.

“AWS Certification can help members of the AWS Partner Network build their team’s competence and confidence, while adding credibility so you can better support AWS customers,” Kelly said in the post.

AWS earlier this year extended its recertification period, allowing customers to recertify every three years instead of two by taking the latest full-length exam in lieu of standalone recertification exams that were eliminated last month. AWS removed prerequisite requirements for exams and introduced a new benefit that gives AWS-certified members a 50-percent-off discount voucher to apply to any exam. It also introduced a new machine learning specialty certification exam last month.
