SoftwareOne, based in Waukesha, Wis, offers software management services that help clients tailor software portfolios to their business needs. The company assists with licensing, procurement, utilization, deployment, as well as compliance with contracts.

Comparex also specializes in license management and sourcing in addition to offering cloud-based professional services.

The Leipzig-based solution provider is among the partners Microsoft groups as Licensing Solution Providers (LSPs)—authorized by Microsoft to sell volume licensing products and services, including subscription-based products, in the U.S. market.

In 2015, Comparex opened a U.S. division with headquarters in Dallas to focus strictly on Microsoft's cloud.

The company describes itself as "an integration layer between its customers and the major IT and cloud platform providers, offering global managed services optimizing customers’ investment in technology."

“Along with our investor KKR, we spent considerable time intensely searching for the ideal partner and are convinced we have found it with Comparex," said Daniel von Stockar, chairman of SoftwareOne's board of directors, in a prepared statement.
