Twitter Fixes Bug That Caused Brief Outage

Tens of thousands of users on Downdetector.com started reporting just before noon on Friday that the social network was down or experiencing issues on its app and website, but Twitter says the issue has already been fixed.

Twitter said it fixed a technical bug that caused a brief outage for users Friday afternoon.

The San Francisco, Calif.-based social media giant said the bug was “preventing timelines from loading and Tweets from posting” but added that “things should be back to normal now.”

Tens of thousands of users on Downdetector.com started reporting just before noon on Friday that the social network was down or experiencing issues on its app and website.

Twitter said on its API status page that it was experiencing and investigating “an elevated level of API efforts” that started around 12:41 p.m. Eastern Time. This was resulting in degraded performance for tweets, the Twitter’s Spaces voice chat feature and user data.

We’ve fixed a technical bug that was preventing timelines from loading and Tweets from posting. Things should be back to normal now. Sorry for the interruption!
