WATCH: How The Channel Can Win With DropBox

Now is the time to partner with Dropbox.

That was the message from Rob Lai, enterprise account executive at Dropbox. Lai discussed market trends and channel opportunities during an appearance at XChange2018 in San Antonio, an event hosted by CRN’s parent company, The Channel Company.

“Dropbox and the channel have been really successful in working with managed service providers who are thinking about Dropbox as infrastructure modernization,” said Lai, adding that Dropbox offers partners a big opportunity because it’s easy to sell, easy to add services and provides high margins.

The company launched its Dropbox Partner Network in 2012 and today has over 500 million users. In March, the company went public at $21 a share, making it the highest initial public offering debut of any tech company in more than a year.

So, what’s driving the power of Dropbox?

Unstructured data and collaboration.

“Unstructured data growth is one of the biggest trends we’re seeing. There’s a proliferation of devices and IDC projects that by 2020 there will be over 40 Zettabytes of data that sits in unstructured silos,” said Lai.

“Collaboration is a big promise and oftentimes the tools don’t have adoption and use to facilitate the benefits of collaboration. Dropbox has a strong perspective that scale impacts that greatly,” he said. “So, with 500 million users, Dropbox is able to effectively help teams and organizations collaborate because it works internally and externally of that network.”
