Dallman, formerly director of North America channel sales and marketing, will serve as general manager of Intel's Reseller Channel Organization (RCO). A 25-year-plus Intel veteran, he has worked 15 of those years in the Santa Clara, Calif., company's channel organization.

With the promotion, Dallman replaces Sophia Chew, who will take on a new role in Intel's channel platforms group organization that will focus on driving new business. According to a company memo this week that announced Dallman's appointment, Chew will drive the "planning, strategic marketing and early engagement for nontraditional and new Intel businesses in the channel."

In a brief interview with CRN, Dallman said his promotion should signal to partners Intel's growing commitment to the channel -- not a reversal of its pro-channel policies.

"I'm being promoted up in my group and running it," Dallman said. "It's not changing my philosophy or approach. I'm just moving up."

As global channel chief, Dallman will continue to oversee worldwide channel sales and distribution. He said he's thinking about new ways to invigorate Intel's channel program and improve business for whitebook makers and MSPs deploying Intel's vPro platform.

Dallman said he will continue to work with North American partners but also will focus on growing Intel's business internationally and in emerging markets.

"Now I have global responsibilities and ownership for making sales plans across the globe, and membership programs in North America are driven and supported from the worldwide organization," he said.

Intel is currently looking at three candidates to replace Dallman as head of the company's North American channel.
