The notebook also includes productivity tools ThinkVantage Technologies. In addition, Lenovo's improved Access Connections tool enables users to navigate a more user-friendly interface. The improved Power Manager also provides users with more control over notebook functions that provide longer battery life, the company said.

The X301 offers models with high-speed mobile broadband and WiFi to for wireless Internet connection, and also with Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband technology.

The notebook has improved uplink performance by up to 250 percent for models with ATandT mobile broadband over previous ThinkPad notebooks with ATandT mobile broadband, according to the company. Models that support WiMAX will be available later this year. Additionally, GPS is a available on the notebooks.

There is also new support for DisplayPort that is intended to make viewing high definition content easier to use for models with the ultra-thin DVD burner. With support for both DisplayPort and VGA, users can watch high definition content on multiple displays.
