AMD Apppoints Former HP Executive Wolfe CIO

Wolfe, 52, served as vice president of IT for product development and engineering at HP for the last five years. AMD said Wolfe will be responsible for its global technology infrastructure and will report directly to the company’s interim CEO Thomas Seifert, whose permanent position at AMD is senior vice president and chief financial officer.

"Mike has effectively led IT transformations, constantly focusing on reducing operating costs and significantly improving business innovation," Seifert said in a statement. "His considerable talent and experience will help AMD to continue strengthening our IT infrastructure and streamline our business based on our own products and platforms."

Wolfe spent over 24 years at Motorola and Freescale Semiconductor before going to HP. He eventually served in the same role with Freescale and with Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector that he will now occupy at AMD. Wolfe holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Alabama and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Tuesday’s announcement follows a series of abrupt executive resignations at AMD, including the departure of AMD Chief Executive Officer Dirk Meyer in January. Last Month, Chief Operating and Administrative Officer Bob Rivet and Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy Marty Seyer stepped down from their respective positions at AMD. AMD's Corporate Strategy team now reports to Harry Wolin, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, while John Docherty, AMD's senior vice president of manufacturing operations, has taken over responsibility for all aspects of AMD's product manufacturing process.
