Ingram Micro Offers BTO Services For Cisco UCS Series B, C Servers

As a result, Ingram Micro will be stocking, building, testing and shipping Cisco UCS B-Series and C-Series servers to solution providers or their customers, said Peter Gambino, vice president of the Cisco Business Unit for the Santa Ana, Calif.-based distributor's Advanced Technology Division.

"We're building on our portfolio of advanced integration services for Cisco," Gambino said. "Being able to go in and customize the servers will help our partners significantly."

Kevin Hallmark, Ingram Micro's senior vendor business manager for Cisco data center solutions, said the distributor's services include a high level of customization of solutions built on Cisco UCS servers.

For instance, Ingram Micro can install and integrate Cisco unified communications technology on the servers before shipping to partners or their customers, Hallmark said. Or the distributor can add EMC's VNX or VNXe storage systems and VMware virtualization technology to the Cisco UCS servers to build solutions based on EMC's VSPEX reference architecture, he said.

In addition to offering configuration services on the C-Series and B-Series Cisco UCS servers, Ingram Micro can now officially ship the B-Series from inventory for the first time, Hallmark said. It has been selling Cisco's C-Series UCS servers out of inventory for about a year and a half, he said.

Avnet also provides Cisco UCS configuration services.
