Data Center Solution Providers PDS And Works Computing To Merge


Midwest-based solution providers Paragon Development Systems (PDS) and Works Computing have reached terms on a merger agreement that promises to widen the client reach of both companies and expand their solutions proficiency.

The deal, announced Wednesday, pairs the broad professional services expertise of Brookfield, Wis.-based PDS, No. 138 on the CRN Solution Provider 500, with a well-rounded data center services shop in Bloomington, Minn.-based Works Computing.

PDS President and CEO Asif Naseem will keep his role at the newly-combined company. Mitch Brown, president of Works Computing, plans to pursue other career opportunities once the transition is complete. His colleague, Works COO Mitch Prust, is slated to join PDS as vice president of data center products and services.

"PDS and Works Computing have similar business models, and share similar work cultures,’ Naseem said in a statement. "As one organization we will be well positioned to better assist our customers in addressing their evolving IT needs as they march forward with their digital transformation."

PDS could not immediately be reached for comment. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

PDS specializes in managed services, support and infrastructure solutions, and also provides security services that include identity and access management, network security and compliance offerings. The company partners with HPE, Dell EMC, Cisco and a host of other top vendors.

Works Computing holds a similar technical skill set, providing managed services, infrastructure, servers, storage, maintenance and virtualization offerings. The company will operate under the name, "Works Computing, a PDS Company" while both sides work to combine their respective brands.

The two solution providers said that "little" customer overlap exists between their client rosters.

"There are significant, realistic and immediate opportunities for offering a broader portfolio among our combined base of clients," Naseem said. "Additionally, there will be opportunities to expand manufacturer and distributor partnerships based on the enhanced sales volume as well as the size of our merged company."
