Lenovo Revamps Its ThinkServer For SMBs

Lenovo claimed a stake in the SMB market with its ThinkServer, and now the company has boosted the line for the next generation of businesses.
"The ThinkServers are really kind of what changed the game, at a cost point that, you know, were a branded product, but able to compete with not only our major competitors but white boxes as well," said Product Manager Don Frame.
Frame showed off the RD650 and RD550, emphasizing the smaller footprint these models provide, while still offering up to 90 TB in a small rackable chassis.
With the acquisition of IBM's System x server business, Lenovo now promises the "most reliable products in the world."
Lenovo's new X3650 M5 server supports up to 2 Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 series processors, and has up to 86.4 TB of Internal storage. The X3650 also has 1.5 TB of memory, and promises to reduce data center costs with energy-efficient features, like a "unique 40-degree Celsius operating temperature."
Frame said that, in the SMB market, Lenovo remains focused on "bringing out cost-focused server products to go after a lot of the market that was underserved."
