PTC's new Kinex applications are built into its PTC's ThingWorx Industrial IoT platform, which helps customers tie together connectivity, analytics, and machines learning capabilities into their IoT solutions.

The company has released its first Kinex application - Kinex Navigate, which helps employees navigate through the multiple lifecycles and branded systems on their industrial floors through a role-based interface.

Kinex Navigate enables employees in an industrial company, like a manufacturer, for instance, to access product data sourced from multiple systems, breaking down silos in the product lifecycle with universal data access, so employees have access to accurate product information, according to PTC.

The industrial space is a lucrative area for Internet of Things market – according to market research firm IDC, manufacturing operations was the IoT use case that saw the largest investment, $102.5 billion, in 2016.

"By leveraging the ThingWorx Industrial IoT platform and Kinex Navigate solution, KPIT is able to aggregate data from various business systems and apply our business process and medical device expertise to bring useful role-based apps to the market," said David Bartlett, North America Head of extended PLM at KPIT, a PTC product engineering partner, in a statement.

Beyond Kinex Navigate, the Needham, Mass.-based company said it would be releasing additional applications in the coming months. the company said that the development capabilities of ThingWorx would enable its partner base to add features extending the Kinex applications.

’Kinex Navigate sees increased adoption in the market as companies look to leverage the Industrial IoT to improve their competitive advantage and increase the value delivered to their customers," said PTC's Vescuso.
