Dell Acquires U.K. Firm For Managed Services
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. In a statement, Dell said the acquisition wouldn't be material to its financial results.
Round Rock, Texas-based Dell has been working to rebound its sales in several geographies, including Western Europe, where the company saw slowing growth in its most recent fiscal quarter.
ACS provides application services, including what Dell said involves "a technical process called application packaging," where installation routines are customized for specific clients. Dell said it would provide the offering worldwide as part of its managed services portfolio.
"ACS is a highly respected specialist in providing application management and deployment services and infrastructure consulting," according to Stephen Murdoch, Dell's vice president of solutions and service for Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Our goal is to help customers derive maximum value from their IT infrastructure investments. This acquisition is part of that strategy, along with very aggressive organic growth."
Dell has been deploying various managed services solutions in some individual cases as part of its professional services business. Earlier this year, the computer hardware giant said it would provide print managed services to aerospace giant Boeing in a partnership with Lexmark, Lexington, Ky.
