Avnet To Launch Remote Monitoring, Management Services

The offerings are part of Avnet's OneTech Managed Services initiative that includes availability monitoring, preventative monitoring and comprehensive remote management. They provide 24x7 monitoring for five critical components: CPU, memory, disk space, network interfaces and network unavailability, and alerts for problems, according to Avnet.

"We developed our new offerings so partners can quickly add remote monitoring and management capabilities to their services line-up without capital investment or additional resources," said Jack Morris, vice president of services, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, in a statement. "Our partners will find that managed services enhance their relationships with customers and provide great opportunities for incremental projects."

Features of the availability monitoring include alerts sent via email to designated contacts as problems occur, and a Web-interface to view status and self-provisioning devices.

The preventative monitoring services can watch hundreds of components and detect problems before they impact performance and availability, according to Avnet. The service also provides 24x7 alerting and antivirus checks through a Web interface.

The comprehensive remote management includes 24x7 incident response and resolution, and customized administration management, according to the distributor. It also includes weekly status reports on tasks and improvements, proactive e-checks and administration on items such as backups and antivirus, and defines change management processes and documentation.
