An Apple tablet device sporting a 9.6-inch display and priced between $799 and $999 will hit the market next February, according to a report on the Taiwan Economic News Web site.

The Web site is reporting that Taiwanese vendors are set to begin delivery of components to Apple in December.

The Taiwan Economic News site said Wintek, an Apple iPhone supplier, will supply touch panels for the new device, and DynaPack International Technology has been "exclusively contracted" to supply up to 300,000 units of long-lasting battery packs a month for Apple`s newest tablet PC.

In addition, the Website is reporting that Wanshih Electronic Co. is expected to supply about 70 percent of the orders for mini-coaxial cables for the Apple device.

The Taiwan Economic News report has sparked a new round of buzz about the Apple tablet in the blogosphere.

Gizmodo, for example, reported that someone who had seen an Apple tablet prototype said it looked just like a "giant iPhone with a black back." That Gizmodo source claimed the device will come in two editions, one with a Webcam and one for educational use.
