And for those TV reporter wannabes, CNN even offers a gateway to the iPhone's iReport function, giving viewers the ability to upload photos and video to CNN and browse user-generated content.

CNN is charging $1.99 for the software through the Apple App Store.

CNN is relatively late to the iPhone party with news applications already available from such media outlets as Time Magazine, The Financial Times and National Public Radio. And many of those other news applications are free.

Viewers can watch live streaming video directly from CNN.com Live and access on-demand video clips from such content categories as latest news, most popular, on TV, U.S., world, entertainment, tech, offbeat, politics and health, according to the CNN announcement.
