Nokia Booklet 3G Arrives With Windows 7 At Best Buy
The Nokia Booklet 3G will be available at Best Buy stores in the U.S. at a subsidized price of $299.99 with a two-year data plan from AT&T. The netbook will come preloaded with Microsoft Windows 7 and will be available in stores and online starting on Oct. 22 -- the same day Microsoft's new OS is slated to roll out.
The price tag on the Finnish phone maker's netbook has come down considerably since it was first revealed. Nokia in September first revealed that the Booklet 3G would cost an eye-popping $820 -- an exorbitant price for netbooks, which tend to retail for less than $500.
Since the initial announcement, Nokia has partnered with AT&T to offer the netbook for a subsidized price of $299, with a two-year service agreement.
Best Buy will offer customers who purchase the Booklet 3G its "Walk Out Working" service, with sales associates activating and configuring the netbook so it is prepared to work before customers leave the store.
The 10.1-inch Booklet 3G netbook has many of the features that have become standard on netbooks, including an Atom processor (a Z530 1.6GHz CPU, to be exact), a 12-hour battery life, 3G and Wi-Fi wireless capability, a 10-inch display, an aluminum casing, a built-in GPS and height and weight specifics of 1 inch and 2.5 pounds, respectively.
The netbook also offers Nokia's Ovi Suite 2.0, Nokia Music for PC, Ovi Maps and Social Hub, the last of which is an aggregator for feeds from social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
For customers interested in purchasing the netbook without a two-year service agreement from AT&T, the Booklet 3G can be had for the unsubsidized price of $599.
