Apple iPhone 4: When Will It Be Delivered?

Crashed servers, delays and not enough supply to meet demand. All of this as the iPhone-hungry masses sought to secure their Apple iPhone 4, the latest and greatest iPhone model Steve Jobs and Co. unveiled earlier this month.

And with all of the issues that arose during the Apple iPhone 4 pre-order, many of the hundreds of thousands of those who pre-ordered are left wondering when exactly they'll finally have their mitts on the device.

That depends.

According to some reports, some customers who pre-ordered an Apple iPhone 4 when the device went up for pre-sale on June 15 received e-mails indicating they will receive the smartphone a day earlier than expected. That means some buyers will have the iPhone 4 as soon as tomorrow. Several Web sites are reporting that iPhone 4 customers will receive their devices tomorrow.

"Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23 to track your package to your doorstep," reads the text of the Apple e-mail, according to MSNBC.com.

The actual iPhone 4 delivery date is expected to be June 24. The iPhone 4 will also go on sale at Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and Best Buy that day, along with Apple stores and AT&T retail stores.

Meanwhile, buyers who pre-ordered after the first wave of iPhone 4s was spoken for can expect to receive their devices on July 2, Apple has said. The third wave of pre-order customers will have iPhone 4 in hand come July 14, which Apple's Web store now states as the delivery date.

The Apple iPhone 4 pre-order was plagued with problems from the start, with servers not being able to handle the demand and AT&T suspending iPhone 4 pre-orders for the coveted device.

And now that it seems pre-ordering has stabilized, some folks who pre-ordered the iPhone 4 are reporting even more problems. This week, some customers reported that their iPhone 4 pre-order was cancelled for no apparent reason. Gizmodo printed an email from one AT&T customer who pre-ordered an iPhone 4 that said: "Your iPhone order has been cancelled. Your credit card has not been charged. If you believe you have received this email in error, please return to the AT&T store where you placed your order. Sincerely, AT&T."

Others reported receiving e-mails from Apple noting that the company was "unable to complete the authorization process" for iPhone orders.

Apple reported that first-day pre-orders resulted in the sale of more than 600,000 iPhone 4s, the largest single-day sales in Apple history.

The Apple iPhone 4 adds a host of new features and functions unavailable in the previous model, the iPhone 3G S. The iPhone 4 offers a higher resolution screen dubbed Retina that is supposed to mimic the human eye; a front-facing camera that enables video calls with other iPhone 4 users; high-definition video recording; multi-tasking; and a gyroscope. It clocks in at 24 percent thinner than previous iPhone models.

The Apple iPhone 4 runs $199 or $299 for the 16 GB and 32 GB models, respectively, with a two-year AT&T service agreement.
