Samsung Expands Line Of Wi-Fi-Enabled Digital Cameras
The ST80 sports a 3x optical zoom and a 3-inch touch screen LCD on the back, Samsung said in a press release. The video capability records 720p high-definition video at 30 frames-per-second utilizing the H.264 format. The camera also offers Samsung’s “Smart Crop” editing tool for cropping pictures taken at any angle and then straightening them, and the “Smart Auto” feature that recognizes the current shooting environment and selects the appropriate settings for best photo results.
The Wi-Fi capability allows a user to upload or share digital images or videos directly from the camera without having to connect it to a computer, according to Samsung. Digital images and video can be e-mailed to addresses in the camera’s address book and to social networking sites, too.
The ST80 also includes Samsung’s “AllShare” Digital Living Network Alliance service for sharing media files between DNLA-enabled devices, and the camera comes with an account with mobile hotspot provider Boingo.
The ST80 is Samsung’s second Wi-Fi-enabled camera: The company already markets the CL80, which debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
The camera is priced at $249.99.
