The 2-in-1 laptop’s design features a CNC-machined magnesium body and an iridescent "dragonfly blue" color. HP has been touting the Elite Dragonfly as the "lightest compact business convertible" out there with a starting weight of 2.2 pounds.

The company also says the Elite Dragonfly offers the longest battery life in a 13-inch business convertible, with an ability to get up to 24.5 hours of battery life per charge on the notebook.

At CES 2020, taking place this week in Las Vegas, HP announced the first details on the forthcoming Elite Dragonfly G2. Here are six key things to know about the notebook.

Display

The Elite Dragonfly G2 continues to feature a 13.3-inch display with FHD or UHD/4K resolution. The biggest update on the display is the option to include HP's new Sure View Reflect integrated privacy screen. The company says that Sure View Reflect offers enhanced privacy compared to previous versions of Sure View--with display content rendered even less readable to onlookers, and the ability to use the screen in a wider variety of lighting conditions.

Options for the Elite Dragonfly G2's touch display are for FHD resolution with 1,000 nits of brightness and Sure View Reflect; FHD resolution with 400 nits; and 4K resolution with 550 nits of brightness.

5G

The Elite Dragonfly G2 is poised to become one of the first laptops to support high-speed 5G connectivity. The notebook will offer an option to include the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 modem, which supports both 5G and LTE.

The Elite Dragonfly will also include what HP is calling "smart signal technology" to improve antenna performance for 5G connections. The antenna technology "enables the device to meet HP's rigorous connectivity standards," and the notebook will ultimately be "the world's lightest business convertible supporting 5G," HP said in a news release.

Tile Tracker

Tile--a popular Bluetooth-connected device for tracking down misplaced items--will be offered a built-in feature to laptops for the first time with the Elite Dragonfly G2, HP announced.

The Tile technology will allow users to more easily identify the location of a lost notebook unit, by logging into their Tile tracking service on a different device. Importantly, the Elite Dragonfly G2 will not need to have a charge for the tracker to work, HP said.

The optional Tile Premium service, meanwhile, will be able to give users a proactive alert when they've left their notebook behind, according to HP.

Processor

On performance, the original Elite Dragonfly has offered choices of processors from Intel's eighth-generation series--topping out at a quad-core, Core i7 chip. The Elite Dragonfly G2 will move up to Intel's latest processors, with 10th-generation Intel Core processors available, offering up to six cores. The options will be the 10th-gen Core i3, i5 or i7, HP said.

Sustainability

HP is continuing its emphasis on developing devices with a higher degree of sustainability with the Elite Dragonfly G2.

The notebook's speaker boxes will include plastic material that would've otherwise ended up in the oceans, while recycled materials will constitute more than 82 percent of the notebook's mechanical parts, according to the company. Additionally, more than 90 percent of the magnesium used in the notebook's chassis will be from recycled sources, HP said.

Price And Availability

In terms of release date, the Elite Dragonfly G2 will be available "later in the summer," HP said. The company didn't disclose pricing details. The original Elite Dragonfly has had a starting price of $1,549.
