It's Here: CRN Hits The iPhone X Launch Day In Boston

Hundreds lined up at the Apple Store in Boston's Boylston Street Friday for a chance to get Apple's dramatically redesigned new iPhone, the iPhone X.

Despite the $999 starting price, many in line reported waiting overnight to get the iPhone X, which Apple says is in short supply.

We spent some time with the device this morning and were impressed with the look and feel of the iPhone X, which is similar in overall size to the iPhone 8 even though it has a larger screen.

Navigating to the home screen without the home button, with an upward swipe, worked easily. Switching between apps without a home button may take more getting used to, though.

Aside from the nearly edge-to-edge display and removal of the home button, the biggest change is that the iPhone X uses Face ID facial recognition to unlock.

A demo showed that Face ID is easy to set up, though it remains to be seen whether it will be easier to use than Touch ID in practice. Clearly though, this is a very nice phone that users will be flocking to for some time to come.
